Expansion Project: Building North Cities

On Sunday evening, January 29th, North Cities presented the plans for the next phase of expansion.  The new building design is a collaborative effort of many talented people who brought their insight to the question of how to meet the facility needs of North Cities’ growing ministries.  The result is an amazingly efficient design that will increase each ministry’s capacity to connect people to God, to others, and to purpose.

Seoul, South Korea is the world’s second largest metropolitan area, with a population of over 25 million.  The city was established as the capital of Korea nearly 2,000 years ago, and today houses over half of the nation’s population.  Seoul is an economic, political and cultural powerhouse, having recently been ranked among the top 10 global cities.  Seoul has everything… except a United Pentecostal Church.  That is, until now.

Starting Points that Finish Well

North Cities’ first worship services of 2012 were dynamic! Both the Garland and McKinney campuses were full.  The worship was powerful, and the altars were full.  The first service of the year included a baptism, and the Holy Spirit was also poured out in the Children’s Ministry.  On Sunday evening in Garland, the church shared communion and remembered the Lord’s sacrifice that purchased our freedom and forgiveness.

Pastor Hargrove set the tone for the New Year with a message entitled “Starting Points that Finish Well.” The message outlined five fundamentals for living that will ensure a successful finish:

North Cities McKinney Campus Launch

North Cities is launching a campus in McKinney, Texas – one of the fastest growing cities in America.  Beginning January 1st, 2012, North Cities will conduct worship services each Sunday at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Wesley United Methodist Church, located just west of Interstate 75 on the south side of Virginia Parkway.

The Church on Course – Guideposts for Today

On Sunday morning, November 27th, Pastor D. G. Hargrove presented a lesson entitled, “The Church on Course.”  Drawing parallels from the account of the birth of the Church in the Book of Acts, Pastor Hargrove identified seven guideposts that will keep believers on course.  If the Church will remain true to these founding principles, she will continue to be the force so desperately needed in the world today.

“It’s Going Down” – Image Student Ministries

It was apparent before Reflect service ever started that God was going to have His way. Imagine, ISM’s youth band, started warming up in the annex sanctuary, and their practice quickly turned into worship. Students started filing into the prayer room and the spiritual atmosphere continued to build until the sound reached a roar. Student Pastor Dyral Hargrove observed what was happening and commented, “It’s going down tonight!”

“Helping Hands Thanksgiving Edition” Food Drive

Helping Hands Food DriveNorth Cities’ Junior High ministry is sponsoring its second annual “Helping Hands Thanksgiving Edition” Food Drive.

Through the efforts of last year’s drive, 25 families were blessed with food donation boxes for Thanksgiving.  Every non-perishable item collected by the students will go to those in need. Lend a hand and bring a can!

The promise is unto you, and to your children!

When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, the Apostle Peter declared that this promised gift was available to everyone: to those that heard him and to their children (Acts 2:38–39). Children have always been a focus of God’s promises and work. During His earthly ministry, Jesus brought children close (Mark 10:14). He still does! This Sunday morning at North Cities, 26 children received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as the Lord poured it out in fulfillment of His promise.
