Starting: When Jesus Said “It Is Finished,” the Church Was Just Getting Started
Many thought everything ended at the cross. But the resurrection launched something new—the Kingdom of God breaking in. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done…” (Matthew 6:10). That prayer becomes a plan in Acts. The Book of Acts—especially chapters 1-2—shows us how the church started and how it still starts today in Collin County and Dallas County.
The Kingdom Pattern for a Spirit-Filled Start (Acts 1-2)
1) Purpose: One Accord, One Mission (Acts 2:1)
They gathered in unity, not around politics, preferences, or personalities, but around God’s purpose. A church truly starting in North Texas begins with this: one heart to pursue God’s kingdom.
2) Prayer: Fuel for the Mission (Acts 1:14)
Before power came, prayer came. They “continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.” If you’re looking for a praying, Spirit-filled church in Dallas County or Collin County, this is the pattern—seek first, then speak next.
3) Demonstration: Heaven Breaks In (Acts 2:2)
A sound from heaven filled the house. Real revival in North Texas isn’t noise we make—it’s the sound God sends. When the Kingdom advances, it’s tangible.
4) Infilling: The Holy Ghost for Everyone (Acts 2:3–4)
Fire rested on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues. The Kingdom doesn’t make spectators; it makes Spirit-filled witnesses—in Plano, Dallas, McKinney, Richardson, and beyond.
5) Preaching: Clear, Bold Gospel (Acts 2:14)
Peter stood up and declared Jesus. The Kingdom advances when the Word is preached—strong, compassionate, and unashamed.
6) Response: Hearts Awakened (Acts 2:37)
They were “pricked in their heart” and asked, “What shall we do?” When God moves, people move. In a true apostolic church in Collin County and Dallas County, conviction is a gift that leads to life.
7) Results: Repentance, Baptism, Spirit Baptism, Growth (Acts 2:38–41)
Peter’s answer still stands:
-
Repent
-
Be baptized in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins
-
Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
That day, about 3,000 were added. The same Jesus is still starting things in our region today.
