It’s Time to Move: Leaving the Mountain and Stepping Into God’s Promise

There’s nothing new under the sun but there is something next. In Deuteronomy 1, God tells Israel, “You have dwelt long enough in this mountain…turn and take your journey.” The same call echoes across the North Dallas region today—Collin County, Dallas County, Richardson, Plano, Garland, Murphy, Wylie, Allen, McKinney, and beyond. If you’ve camped around the same spiritual mountain—fear, regret, bitterness, old labels—God is inviting you to move.

The Word to North Dallas: “You’ve Been Here Long Enough” (Deuteronomy 1:5-8)

Moses reminds Israel that Horeb (Sinai) was holy ground, where they heard God, received His Word, and erected the tabernacle. Yet God said, “Go in and possess the land.” Why move on from a good place? Because the promise ahead is better. In the North Cities areas of Dallas, many of us have lived faithfully near the mountain of yesterday’s experiences—great services, treasured memories—but the Spirit is saying, “It’s time to step into what’s next.”

What Mountains Keep Us Stuck?

  • Grudges & bitterness: Old wounds that have become home.

  • Fear & anxiety: “What if I fail again?”

  • Shame & regret: Like Peter after his denial—close to the group but far from grace in his own mind.

  • Comfort zones: Good routines that quietly resist fresh obedience.

Jesus removes the invisible barriers that keep us circling the same ground (Luke 4:18). Sometimes the wall is gone, but our habits haven’t noticed. Today, let faith take the first step.

How God Moves Us From “Here” to “There”

  1. Conviction to clarity – God asks, “What are you doing here?” not to shame you, but to locate you—so He can lead you.

  2. Surrender to freedom – Take out the “trash” of resentment, fear, and labels—leave it at the curb and don’t bring it back.

  3. Promise to pathway – God never says “move” without promising presence: “I am with you always.”

  4. Next-step obedience – New ground requires new steps: pray, reconcile, serve, join a group, get baptized, receive the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).

This isn’t theory. It’s a Spirit-filled lifestyle for Apostolic believers in Collin County and Dallas County.

A Fresh Start for the North Cities Areas of Dallas

You don’t have to live around that mountain another day. God has milk-and-honey ground—freedom, peace, restoration, purpose—prepared for you. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He finished redemption and started building His church—right here, right now.

Your Next Step (We’re With You)

  • Pray: “Lord, show me my mountain—and the first step away from it.”

  • Act: Forgive, reconcile, or lay down what’s been weighing you down.

  • Connect: Plug into a Spirit-filled church in the North Dallas / North Cities area where prayer, worship, and the Word are alive.

  • Obey the Gospel: Repent, be baptized in Jesus’ name, and receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
