It is time for the Church to come together in unity, faith, and compassion. In the passage, Jesus encounters a man who suffered immobility for 38 years at the pool of Bethesda. This man received healing and restoration through patience, belief, and the mercy shown by Jesus, rather than relying solely on his circumstances or own power.

When Waiting Turns Into a Way of Life

In John 5, Scripture paints the scene of a man who had waited thirty-eight years by the Pool of Bethesda—hoping, longing, and watching others step ahead of him. Every day, he came close to the miracle but never quite reached it. He depended on people to carry him there, but that was as far as they could take him.

It took Jesus to take him beyond the pool.

In his message “It Is Time,” D.G. Hargrove reminds us that many of us find ourselves at our own Bethesda—stuck between faith and frustration, near the edge of breakthrough but still waiting on something or someone to move. But when Jesus steps in, time itself changes.

The Power of a Divine Moment

When Jesus saw the man lying there, He asked, “Do you want to be made whole?” (John 5:6). It’s a question that cuts to the core. After decades of disappointment, could the man still believe that change was possible?

The miracle didn’t happen in the water—it happened in obedience. Jesus simply said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.”

That command broke years of paralysis in one moment. It was a reminder that God’s timing isn’t delayed—it’s deliberate.

There comes a time when waiting must turn into walking.

And for this man, that time was now.

From Dependence to Destiny

The paralyzed man had people who helped him get to the pool—but no one who could take him further. That’s how many of us live—depending on others to carry us just far enough to survive, but never far enough to thrive.

It’s good to have friends who bring you to the edge, but it takes Jesus to get you beyond it.

Pastor Hargrove emphasized that the man’s healing was not just physical—it was emotional and spiritual. Jesus didn’t just say, “Walk.” He said, “Take up your bed.” In other words, “Don’t leave what used to hold you. Let your testimony become the thing you carry.”

Your past becomes proof that God restores broken things.

Breaking the Rules to Reveal His Mercy

The miracle caused controversy because it happened on the Sabbath. Religious leaders saw violation where God saw liberation.

Jesus wasn’t ignoring the law—He was fulfilling love. He was showing North Dallas, then and now, that mercy outweighs mechanics and people matter more than protocol.

When God says it’s time, no tradition, timeline, or expectation can stand in the way.

When It’s Time to Move

In the North Cities areas—Plano, Garland, Allen, Richardson, McKinney, and Dallas County—we live in a culture of waiting:

  • Waiting for the right opportunity.

  • Waiting for the perfect conditions.

  • Waiting for life to feel “just right.”

But “It Is Time” calls us to move now. To rise from the pool of hesitation and step into the place of healing, faith, and purpose.

You don’t need the water to stir when the Word Himself is standing beside you.

A Word for the Weary

If you’ve been waiting for your moment, hear this: God has not forgotten you.
Your healing may not come from the place you expected—but it will come from the Savior who never fails.

When Jesus speaks, time bends. What took decades can change in a single sentence.

It’s time to stop counting the years and start walking into destiny.
It’s time to let the presence of God pull you from the edge into the miracle.
It’s time to rise, take up your bed, and walk.

Because when Jesus says it’s time, everything changes.
