Music stirs our emotions and fills us with joy as we lift our praises to the Lord. Psalm 27:6 shows how joyful, sacrificial praise is linked with God lifting us above our enemies, making worship a vital part of spiritual warfare. While the enemy uses noise—fear, confusion, and lies—to unsettle our hearts, Spirit-led music does the opposite. Pastor Jerry Burns explains that praise-filled singing strengthens hope, faith, unity, joy, and truth. Through worship, our hearts are drawn into alignment with God, and His light drives back the darkness.

The Power of Worship in Spiritual Warfare

Some battles are not won with swords, strategies, or strength. Some victories—especially the ones we need in Collin County, Dallas County, and throughout the North Dallas region—are won with a song. Pastor Jerry Burns reminds us that heaven’s strategy often looks very different than ours: God fights through worship.

Psalm 27:6 declares, “I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.”
The psalmist understood that worship has weight. Praise has power. A song can lift your head above discouragement, fear, and the enemies that surround your soul.

In a world full of noise—anxiety, pressure, division, fear—God invites His people to create a different kind of sound.

The sound of praise.
The sound of victory.
The sound of faith rising.

When Music Breaks Chains

“Whenever the tormenting spirit troubled Saul, David would play the harp… and the evil spirit would go away.” — 1 Samuel 16:23

Worship doesn’t just make us feel better—it shifts the atmosphere. The presence of God moves when His people lift their voices.

Pastor Burns reminds us:

  • David played, and spirits fled.

  • Israel sang, and walls fell.

  • Paul and Silas worshiped, and prison doors opened.

The enemy uses noise—fear, confusion, lies—but God uses music to silence darkness and strengthen our hearts.

Even Zephaniah says God Himself sings over His people (Zeph. 3:17). If the Lord sings, surely His people should too.

Jehoshaphat’s Choir: A North Dallas Model for Victory

One of Scripture’s most stunning victory stories comes from 2 Chronicles 20—and it’s the foundation of this message.

Judah faced a vast army. Outnumbered. Overwhelmed. Under pressure.

God’s instruction?

Not swords.
Not shields.
Not soldiers.

SINGERS.

King Jehoshaphat appointed worshipers to march ahead of the army and sing:

“Give thanks to the LORD, for His love endures forever!”

And Scripture says:

“As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes… and they were defeated.” — 2 Chronicles 20:22

As they worshiped, God worked.
As they lifted their voices, God lifted their burden.
As they sang, God scattered the enemy.

This is still happening today in cities across North Dallas—Plano, Garland, Richardson, McKinney, Wylie, Frisco, and beyond. Worship wins battles.

What Singing Does Inside Us

Pastor Burns highlights five ways worship through song transforms us:

1. Worship strengthens HOPE.

When you sing, your soul remembers God is bigger than the battle.

2. Worship deepens FAITH.

Lyrics rooted in the Word remind you of God’s promises.

3. Worship unifies COMMUNITY.

In North Cities and throughout Collin & Dallas Counties, worship pulls hearts together around one name—Jesus.

4. Worship releases JOY.

Joy is not optional in warfare—it’s a weapon.

5. Worship grounds us in TRUTH.

The enemy lies. Praise realigns us with what is real, eternal, and unshakeable.

You Can Win the Battle Before You Fight It

Worship shifts the battle from your hands to God’s.

Just like Jehoshaphat, you may be facing:

  • A vast army of worries

  • A wall of discouragement

  • A valley of sickness

  • A storm of depression

But you don’t have to fight alone.

Praise is your position. Worship is your weapon. God is your victory.

Your Song Is a Strategy

God still lifts heads above enemies through the “sacrifices of joy” (Psalm 27:6).

Whether you’re driving down 75, walking into work in Richardson, caring for your family in Allen, or worshiping at North Cities on a Sunday morning—your song matters.

So lift your voice. Raise your praise. Stand firm.
God will fight for you.
