Thy Will Be Done

“Thy kingdom come. They will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

Text: Matthew 6:10

We need revelation of “thy” instead of “my.” It is His kingdom and His will. When we say, “my,” we mean, “My will is the deciding factor in my life.” When we talk about the “battle of wills,” it gets serious.

Many people are incarcerated because of unbroken wills. There is spiritual incarceration and physical incarceration. More people are spiritually incarcerated than physically. People have such a grip on their will and what they want, that they lead themselves into complete captivity. There is a release today. Surrender to Jesus.

II Peter 3:9 – It is not the will of God that any should perish. There is none that He will not make clean. It is His will that all come to repentance.

I Thessalonians 4:3-4 – It is His will that we abstain from sexual sin even though it is very prevalent in this day and age.

I John 5:14 – If we ask according to His will, He hears us. God hears us when we pray according to His will.

The Apostolic church must pray in the will of God. In other words, “Now God you have heard everything I’ve said, but if anything I’ve asked for is not in your will, I don’t want one thing to come my way that is not of your will.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord. Acknowledge Him. He will direct you.

Psalm 37:4 – Delight precedes desire. We must delight in the things of God. If we do, the right desires will come to us.

Every day of our lives we need to surrender and choose to be in relationship with Jesus. Position yourselves to win and be strong in the Lord. Surrender to the Lord.

Three Types of Surrender

Secret conditional surrender. All words and no actions. My giving up is conditional on what I get out of it.

External surrender. We say cliches like: “God is my Co-Pilot” – God is no one’s “co” anything. In this type of surrender, we still maintain ultimate control. We are hearers of the Word but not doers. We look the part on the outside but nothing is happening on the inside.

Complete surrender – Freeing all the room inside our hearts and minds, being open to Him. We must live a life of surrender. It cannot be hidden. It means we love people and we are living for God.

We must totally surrender to the Word, the life and the will of God. Anything that comes between you and God must be surrendered. Thou will be done.
