The Path of a Dream

We can all relate to Joseph, as his dream did not turn out the way he had planned. We have all felt that life is not taking us down the right path. Nonetheless, God has called us to fulfill the ultimate dream — to hear Him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21).

Joseph encountered and endured four things after capturing his dream:

Trouble

The first thing Joseph ran into was trouble.  His brothers despised him and sold him into slavery, trying to kill his dream.  However, no one can kill what God is trying to do.

When trouble comes, keep doing what you are called to do and don’t give up (Romans 8:28). Some people get into undeserved trouble just like Joseph.  At the same time, sometimes people get into trouble they created — credit card debt, bad relationships, etc.

Temptation

The second thing Joseph encountered was temptation.  He was tempted by Potiphar’s wife, but resisted (James 4:7; Genesis 39:12).  Temptation always has a way of escape.  We must control our thought life, especially when temptation comes.  We must fight against pride, materialism, laziness, self-centeredness, anger, and more. We are to be a living sacrifices as our bodies are a temple of God (Romans 12:1; I Corinthians 3:16).

Loneliness

Joseph experienced loneliness.  Being alone can be a friend rather than a foe.  Joseph, Job, Moses, David, Daniel, Paul and even Jesus was alone.  If you are alone, take your loneliness to God.  He said He would neither leave nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6, 8; Joshua 1:5; Hebrews 13:5). Believe God and take Him at His Word.  When lonely, do not quit, back up, or retreat — Stick with it.

Prosperity

Joseph found himself alone in Egypt and the Lord promoted him to prosperity.  He had to learn to operate in prosperity.  Joseph prospered and had opportunity to get revenge and chose not to. A sign of true Christianity is to not get revenge when opportunity arises. We must stay humble and obedient in prosperity.
